  7. operating environments not included in the online Help file. These 
  8. notes, instructions, and tips will help you get the most out of 
  9. "How the Leopard Got His Spots" and your system.

  23. WHERE TO FIND HELP

  25. For information on installing and using "How the Leopard Got His Spots", 
  26. refer to the booklet in the CD jewelcase.

  28. If you encounter a problem while installing Leopard or have trouble with 
  29. performance, refer to the "Rabbit Help-Leopard" online HELP file.

  31. You can find the "Rabbit Help-Leopard" icon in your MSKIDS program group.

  33. If you are having trouble locating the "Rabbit Help-Leopard" file, 
  34. follow these steps:

  36. 1. From Program Manager File menu, choose Run. 
  37.    If you are running Windows 95, the Run command is found under the 
  38.    Start menu.
  39.  
  40. 2. In the dialog box, type the following command, substituting the 
  41.    letter of your CD-ROM drive for drive d: and press ENTER.

  46. INSTALLING "HOW THE LEOPARD GOT HIS SPOTS"
  47.  
  48. 1. Start Microsoft Windows.
  49. 2. Insert the "How the Leopard Got His Spots" CD-ROM in your CD-ROM Drive.
  50. 3. From Program Manager File menu, choose Run.
  51.    (In Windows 95, the Run command is under the Start menu.)
  52. 4. In the dialog box, type the following command, substituting the 
  53.    letter of your CD-ROM drive for <drive> and press ENTER.

  55.     <drive>:\setup
  56.  
  57. 5. Follow the instructions on the Setup screen.
  58.  
  59. Setup will create three icons in the Microsoft Kids program group.
  60. The "Rabbit Ears-Leopard" icon is used to start the program.
  61. The "Rabbit Help-Leopard" icon is for access to the HELP file. 
  62. The "Kids Catalog" icon is a preview of other Microsoft Home 
  63. applications.

  67. RUNNING UNDER WINDOWS NT
  68.  
  69. If you are running Windows NT and "How the Leopard Got His Spots,"
  70. we recommend using Windows NT version 3.51 or higher. 
  71.  
  72. To install "How the Leopard Got His Spots" under Windows NT, you must 
  73. be logged on with administrator privileges. "How the Leopard Got 
  74. His Spots" does not run in Windows NT VGA mode.

  82. Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16/16ASP
  83. ---------------------------------------
  84. Compressed audio clips may fail to play if you are using a Sound 
  85. Blaster 16 or Sound Blaster 16 ASP sound card.  This problem occurs 
  86. because some computers are unable to use the 16-bit DMA 
  87. (direct memory access) channel on the Sound Blaster cards.

  90. problem, contact Creative Labs technical support.

  96. Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum
  97. ---------------------------------------
  98. Audio clips may sound "scratchy" (that is, distorted) when
  99. played from the Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum. 
  100. Changing the Media Vision driver DMA setting to 7, may solve
  101. this problem.

  110. Aztech Labs (AZI)
  111. ---------------------------------------
  112. You may experience problems playing compressed wave audio when using
  113. any of the following Aztech Labs (AZI) sound cards:
  114.  
  115. - Multimedia Pro
  116. - NX Pro 16
  117. - Sound Galaxy Basic 16
  118. - Sound Galaxy Pro 16
  119.  
  120. To resolve the problem try the following:
  121.  
  122. 1. Add a D=64 parameter at the end of the Device=EMM386 line in the
  123.    CONFIG.SYS file. For example, if your EMM386.EXE file is in the DOS
  124.    directory on drive C, you would use the following line:
  125.     Device=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE D=64.
  126.  
  127. 2. Change the DMABufferSize setting in the [386enh] section of the
  128.    SYSTEM.INI file to "DMABufferSize=064" (without the quotation marks).
  129.    If the line does not exist, add it. 
  130.  
  131. 3. Do the following:
  132.     1. Note the driver listed in the Wave= line in the [drivers]
  133.        section of the SYSTEM.INI file.
  134.     2. Find the section by that name in the SYSTEM.INI file.
  135.        For example, if Wave=mm16.drv, find the [mm16.drv] section.
  136.     3. Add a "SingleModeDMA=True" line (without the quotation marks)
  137.        to this section.
  138.     4. If the driver in the Control Panel for the particular AZI
  139.        card has separate 8-bit and 16-bit DMA settings, try setting
  140.        the 16-bit to None.
  141.  
  142. Some 16-bit AZI sound card drivers do not have separate 8-bit and
  143. 16-bit DMA settings. If the problem still persists, you may need a sound
  144. driver update. For more information, contact Aztech Labs technical
  145. support or Sound Galaxy Support.

  152. DISPLAY

  154. Requirements

  156. "How the Leopard Got His Spots" requires a 256-color display to run.
  157. If your computer's display is less than 256 colors, you need to install
  158. a 256-color driver, or obtain one from your video card's manufacturer.

  160. Display Problems
  161. ---------------------
  162. In some situations, you may encounter video display problems when using 
  163. high resolution video drivers from various video card manufacturers. 
  164.  
  165. Most problems can be fixed by obtaining new drivers from your
  166. video card manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer of your video
  167. card to determine if there are newer versions available. Their
  168. phone number should be in the manuals that came with your video
  169. card or personal computer.

  171. Another option for obtaining updated drivers is the Microsoft Download 
  172. service, an electronic bulletin board that can be accessed via a modem 
  173. at (206) 936-MSDL (206-936-6735).

  176. Cirrus Logic Video Drivers
  177. -----------------------------
  178. The Cirrus company has released new drivers which will eliminate some
  179. problems that "How the Leopard Got His Spots" might have as a result 
  180. of using the older drivers. The version of the Cirrus drivers you 
  181. should use is version 1.43 or greater.

  183. To update your Cirrus Logic video drivers, contact Cirrus Logic product
  184. support.
